Other characters: oh come on
Character name: Michiru Kaioh
Age: That's a good question. She's at least two, maybe three years older than the Inners...so maybe seventeen? That way she could hypothetically be in Grade 11 when they're in Grade 8 (and since she basically takes a gap year in high school during SuperS, she would be Grade 12 when the Inners are Grade 10, oh my God this canon and its lack of clear ages).
Canon: Sailor Moon (manga)
Canon point: Post Sailor Moon S.
Totem: The Deep Aqua Mirror. This is a hand mirror that Michiru pretty much keeps on her person. She's seen using it in and out of senshi form (I don't know where she keeps it when she's normal. Maybe hammerspace. Idk). It's a talisman-in canon, when the three talismans are gathered, then it a: lets Sailor Moon turn into Super Sailor Moon and b: helps bring about Sailor Saturn, the scout of destruction. During a fissure, the mirror clouds over. If needed, I can make her have a smaller totem since I realize this one is kinda large, but it's something she has on her pretty much all the time.
Weapons: Her talisman, the Deep Aqua Mirror. She uses it for attacking as Sailor Neptune. In her normal form, it's just a normal hand mirror. Also, Michiru claims that the mirror can 'see past lives,' which she uses to basically call out Mamoru that he's a prince. Aside from that, nothing.
Abilities/powers: Michiru has the power to transform into Sailor Neptune. She holds up her transformation rod and yells 'Neptune Planet Power, Make-Up!' and in a flash of light is transformed into Sailor Neptune. As Sailor Neptune, she has two main attacks. 'Deep Submerge': she points her hands at a monster/obstacle/thing and whams it with a pillar of energy. 'Submarine Reflection': Deep Submerge but with her mirror. It also can be used to sense an enemy's weakness, as shown by Michiru using it to find out the weak spot in a magic tent. She has some sort of connection to the sea, in that she's able to divine and explain the whims of the weather (and also has some sort of slight precognative ability.) Usually this is just really vague as 'THE TIDE IS COMING IN, THERE IS SOMETHING BAD ABOUT TO HAPPEN' or 'THE OCEAN IS CHOPPY, THIS ISN'T GOOD.' This will just confuse everybody in Limbo with enigmatic statements about the tides and make the fishpeople very worried.
Aside from Sailor Neptune, Michiru is kind of ridiculously talented. She's skilled in the art of mirror divination (yeah I don't even fucking KNOW, she just says "the mirror is cloudy, shit's going down" a few times in the series.) She's a very good swimmer and is regularly shown swimming. But, most importantly, she's a world-famous violinist. She is SUPREMELY good and is complimented on her skill multiple times in canon (and also greeted by a fan later in the manga, so that's something). She's made multiple albums and has given concerts across the globe.
Also, she can pilot a helicopter. My canon is ridic.
Location: I HOPE YOU WERE PAYING ATTENTION WHEN I MENTIONED THAT HELICOPTER, CAUSE THAT'S THE LOCATION. The Kaio Maru is a helicopter! A fairly normal helicopter by helicopter standards, but a helicopter all the same. It can fit four or so people comfortably: two in the front and two in the back. There are two pairs of headphones in the helicopter so the pilot and/or copilot can block out noise and listen to radio chatter. Aside from that, it's your standard helicopter. When arrived in Limbo, it can sit on top of one of the buildings we've got already.
I'd like some helicopter fuel to also appear with the Kaio Maru (and replenish like the food/bullets do) so that Michiru can give some people helicopter rides. c: Because let's be honest, Limbo is so depressing that a helicopter ride every now and then would cheer people up.
Personality: Michiru is the epitome of grace. She is always calm and collected, elegant in her clothing and her lifestyle. Michiru takes great pleasure in 'upper class' things; some examples of this are her ridiculous apartment and later her expensive dishes (which Hotaru ends up breaking, to Michiru's great annoyance.) It's rare that we see her get flustered or caught off guard in canon, and when she does, she quickly manages to save grace. Most of the time she tries to have a calm, serene demeanor. Michiru certainly believes in manners and proper etiquette; some of the few times we see her flustered are when Haruka has said something completely embarrassing or uncalled for. She seems to be team mom when it comes to the Sailor Scouts, or at least the Outer Senshi. Michiru is very maternal. She's the first to rush to Hotaru when she hears the baby's cry and she take the typical mother duties when the Outers raise Hotaru (food and clothing in comparison to Haruka, who's diapers and playmate.) She is good with children, as shown by her getting along with Chibi-Usa wonderfully and then later opening violin lessons for younger children.
Aside from that, she is very feminine. Michiru is the girly girl to Haruka's tomboy. She collects cosmetics and tends to wear skirts or dresses when not in uniform (she's shown debating about the kinds of lipstick to wear MULTIPLE times in canon.) In the Outer Senshi family dynamic that happens later in the series, Michiru is in charge of cooking (and wears a girly, frilly apron while she does so). It's when her femininity is judged that Michiru loses her cool and gets visibly angry for pretty much the only time in the series (Yaten insults her lipstick choice, that big douchebag.) Despite her feminine nature, she probably won't shame anybody for behaving "unladylike" or anything like that. After all, she's in love with the biggest butch the Sailor Moon manga has.
Despite her grace and femininity, Michiru is willing to get her hands dirty. The Outer Senshi have a more hands-on approach than the Inners. While Sailor Moon's battle plan is basically 'let's try to do this without killing anybody', the Outers battle plan boils down to 'the good of the many outweighs the good of the one'. They have no qualms about possibly killing Hotaru in order to save all of Tokyo from doom and destruction. She will stop at nothing to get her goals done-this even includes attacking the Inner Senshi. They view themselves as...well, outsiders, and separate themselves from the inner senshi. In Michiru's mind, she does the job to prevent the Inner Senshi from doing so. Later on in the series, this 'good of the many' philosophy kind of gets amended to 'okay we'll try not to kill people just for you guys', but Michiru won't hesitate to get her hands dirty if needed.
Because of this outsider philosophy, Michiru is a loner. It's her and Haruka against the world. While Michiru can be nice and polite to everybody, there is no way in hell that she'll trust anyone in the dream at first. All of her problems will be dealt by herself and all of her feelings will be bottled up. A life of battling evil and not telling anybody that you're battling evil had made Michiru pretty much solely self-reliant. The fact that she is seemingly an orphan (she lives by herself and her income comes from patrons of her art) further increases her isolation. Still, she's not a shut-in. At the end of Sailor Moon S, she's learned to put her trust in others and not be so standoffish...and then totally ditches the Inner Scouts with the rest of the Outers. It's gonna be a bit of a while before anybody can fully convince this chick to trust them.
She's much more mature for her age than others expect, partly because of her Sailor Senshi life. She refers to the Three Lights as "kids", despite the fact that they're about the same age as her. She and the rest of the Outers take up the relatively adult job of raising a child despite the fact that two of them are still high school age (nobody knows what the fuck's up with Pluto.) As such, she really enjoys activities where she can act her age. Michiru gets REALLY SUPER EXCITED at the thought of going back to high school, after raising Hotaru and playing housewife for a while. Given the option for girly sleepovers, painting your nails and giggling about gossip, Michiru will take that in a heartbeat. She rarely gets to act like a teenage girl, so when she gets those moments she embraces them.
I mentioned Haruka earlier, but she gets her own paragraph here. Haruka is Michiru's girlfriend. Their relationship is a strong one. Haruka and Michiru trust each other ridiculously, and often work as a team instead of alone. They trust each other so much that Michiru tolerates Haruka's idle flirting (mostly towards Usagi.) At the end of the day, Michiru knows that flirting or not, Haruka will end up coming back to her. That's just how much they love and trust each other. Though she won't show it, the lack of Haruka in Limbo will end up gutting Michiru. These two are ALWAYS together, and inwardly, Michiru will not take separation well. However, she'll put on a smiling and calm exterior no matter what while secretly joining Sue in the Bitter Lesbian Club.
History: The backstory of Sailor Moon is more complicated than it should be and involves reincarnation, princesses of the moon, talking cats, and like five people named 'Serenity'. What you need to know is that the Earth is protected by Sailor Scouts (or Sailor Senshi as I know I used the terms interchangeably in the app), young women with superhuman powers who help defeat the world from insert-evil-threat-here. Nobody knows how Michiru was awakened as a Sailor Scout or how she met up with Haruka-we first meet the two after they had inflitrated Mugen High School, in order to find out more about the enemy. Obviously, the two had been working together for a while before their manga introduction, as they seem fully in control of their Sailor Senshi powers and know a lot more about the enemy than the other Scouts.
And then there's a lot of bitching, bad guys die really good, we have a buttload of Christian imagery, and everything goes to shit as they debate how to kill a twelve year old. At the end of the arc, she's living happily with Haruka (her gf) and Setsuna (Sailor Pluto) as they raise Hotaru (said twelve year old who they were going to kill but then got deaged to a baby.)
So yeah. The manga arc ends with the Outers stealing a baby. GREAT JOB, GUYS.
1st person sample: I must say, I've never been in a spaceship before! [There's a small tinge of girlish excitement in Michiru's voice. Space, you guys.] It's certainly exciting-though, I think I'll be the first to say that I greatly prefer having gravity. It's a bit inconvenient this way.
[There's a small giggle.] Still, I can think of someone back home who would appreciate this more than me. She works in an astronomy lab, so things like this are right up her alley. And no, I'm afraid that I haven't picked up any information about space or spaceships from her or anything like that. I've always been a bit more musically inclined over math. [A pause, as she lingers on the thought of Setsuna in a rocketship.]
I take it everybody's settling in well, here?
